THIEN AN WHITE CANE – A BELOVED FRIEND

THIEN AN WHITE CANE – A BELOVED FRIEND

With white cane in hands, blind people can confidently walk to school, workplace or anywhere else.

It has been a long time since blind people did not clip-clop with the bamboo cane miserably groping their ways. The world develops, life changes and the fate of those who lose their eyesight becomes less tragic than it was before.

The images of the people who handle the white canes with one part painted red become familiar with every people on the street. The world chose October 15 every year to be the Safety White Cane Day, aiming to remind the community not to forget our sisters and brothers who unfortunately become blind but are not invalid living round them.

After finishing a training course teaching moving orientation, holding the white cane in hands, the blinds can confidently go to school, workplace or any place they want. How simple but stupendous it is! A rustic white cane has arose many ambitions, lighting life-loving fire, opening new opportunities and taking many people who seemingly lose all hopes and depressingly live alone to success, love and happiness.

From real experiences of many days groping his ways in magnificent Paris in addition to his knowledge from many different sources, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Phong, MATA’s founder and manager in Sai Gon, decided to open a new job from 1999 – producing white cane. First and foremost, the purpose is to provide Vietnamese blind people a helping tool that meets the technical standard, is safe and convenient. With various sizes and models, simple usage, lightness and suitable price, “Thien An white cane” brand name satisfies the majority of Vietnamese consumers and are now sold in every provinces within Vietnam. Moreover, Thien An white canes are also exported to Thailand and Japan, bringing compensation for school tuition, daily basis for the blind students from rural areas in the country.

It is so happy to look at our blind friends feeling confident with the white canes, going to school and workplace every day. It was also very proud when many times joining seminars in Thailand and Japan, we recognized that the gifts given to the participants were Thien An white canes.

Simple and convenient, white canes become friends at any time and any place, taking the students to their deserving places.
