THE STORY OF THE MEDALS

THE STORY OF THE MEDALS

To achieve all those accomplishments, the students had to sacrifice their sweat and efforts. Beside studying at the shelter and high schools, they had to comply a rigorous and professional regime of practicing...

Coming to Thien An Shelter, many people feel surprised at the huge collection of medals that belongs to many generations of MATA students. Because of lacking place of physical practice, the shelter organized some swimming sessions for the students at Tan Binh Sports and Physical Gymnastics Center. Here, the students got much attention of the coaches and were chosen to join local and national teams, taking part in many domestic as well as international physics and sports festivals.

The collection included more than 100 gold, silver and copper medals of many subjects such as swimming, athletics, judo, chess, chinese chess from different national and international competitions for people with disabilities such as Asean Paragames, FESPIC Youth Games...

To achieve all those accomplishments, the students had to sacrifice their sweat and efforts. Beside studying at the shelter and high schools, they had to comply a rigorous and professional regime of practicing, specially in the peak time when they prepared for big competitions. Swimming many kilometer per day, running against the pool margin, heads became swollen, teeth came out, foreheads were hurt became normal. Many times competing far away from home, teachers at the shelter had to go to the central or the north with the students all month. Although being uphill, those were all unforgettable memories.

Contributing to the common achievements, shelter members such as Nguyen Van Thuan, Tang Dinh Lam, Pham Thi Thu, Nguyen Thi Hao… have now left the shelter, became matured and built their own family. Current generations continue to maintain the spirit and accomplishments of their former generations. Many names such as Tran Tan, Dao Van Thom, Nguyen Minh Hai... are gradually contributing to create a new brand for sports and physical gymnastics activities in MATA.

Similar to the lyrics of the song named “Thien An March”

“Kìa trông bao gương cha anh,
Ngời sáng ý chí sắt đá
Vượt qua chông gai gian nan.
Đoàn con Thiên Ân hôm nay
Nguyện bền chí quyết phấn đấu
Dựng xây tương lai mai sau… “

           (Roughly translated:

Look at the example of former generations

Spirit becomes strong as iron or rock

               And overcome difficult obstacles,

               Descendants of Thien An nowadays

               Try my best

To build  nice life in future…)

Hope that the students always keep their fire of passion and enthusiasm in every sports and physical gymnastics activities as well as in study. The fire that the teachers in the shelter and many other people who have hearts of gold has light up, protected and passed from generations to generations. This is the fire that will take them out of the darkness, leading them to a brighter future.
